Terms and Conditions

These terms explain how buying a stone from Crestonne works, from your first enquiry to delivery and returns, and the rules for using our website. Your consumer rights in your own country always apply.

Last updated October 2, 2026

Who we are

Crestonne is a gemstone business based in Ratnapura, Sri Lanka. We sell natural Ceylon sapphires and spinels as loose stones. Our founder is Naseef AR.

In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Crestonne. "You" means the person who uses our website or buys a stone from us.

You can reach us here:

About these terms

These terms apply when you use our website and when you buy a stone from us. By using the website or buying a stone, you agree to them. They work together with:

You must be at least 18 years old to buy a stone from us.

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the consumer law of the country where you live. Where that law gives you more than these terms, that law applies.

How buying works

We have no shopping cart or online checkout, and we take no payment on the website. Every stone is one of a kind, so we sell each one personally. A stone shown on our website may already be sold. If a stone you ask about has sold, we tell you.

Enquiries and reservations

You can ask about a stone through a form on our website, by WhatsApp or by email. The page of a stone that is still available also has a "Reserve This Stone" button.

A reservation request is not an order and not a contract:

  • no payment is taken
  • neither of us is bound to buy or to sell
  • the stone is not held for you until we confirm the hold personally, by email or WhatsApp

When we confirm a hold, we agree with you how long we will hold the stone. Until then, the stone can sell to another buyer.

When the contract is made

A contract of sale is made only when both of these have happened:

  1. We confirm the sale to you in writing, by email or WhatsApp. The confirmation states the stone, the price, how to pay and the date by which to pay. It comes with a copy of these terms and our Return Policy that you can keep.
  2. You accept the confirmation, by telling us so in writing or by paying.

A contract made by email or WhatsApp is valid under Sri Lanka's Electronic Transactions Act (number 19 of 2006). Please keep our written confirmation and the copy of these terms. Together they are the record of your order.

Prices and currency

  • All prices are in United States dollars.
  • The listed price is the full price of the stone. It includes the stone's laboratory report, where the stone has one, and free insured shipping worldwide.
  • It does not include your country's import duties, taxes or customs fees, or your own bank's charges.
  • Some stones show "Price on request". Ask us for the price.
  • Some listings show an earlier price with a line through it. The price you pay is the price we confirm to you in writing.

Prices on the website may change. A change does not affect a sale we have already confirmed.

Mistakes in prices

If a listing, or our written confirmation, shows an obvious error in the price, we do not have to sell the stone at that price. We will tell you the correct price. You may then buy at that price, or cancel and receive a full refund of anything you have paid.

Paying for your stone

  • You pay by bank transfer, or by another method we agree with you in writing.
  • We never ask for card details on the website and do not store card numbers.
  • Please pay by the date in our written confirmation.
  • If you ask, we give you a written receipt for your payment.
  • Before we dispatch a stone, we may ask you to confirm your identity and your delivery address. If you cannot, we may cancel the sale and return what you have paid.
  • We dispatch the stone once your payment has cleared in full.

If your payment does not arrive by that date, we may cancel the sale. We then return anything you have paid.

Ownership and risk

  • The stone becomes yours when we have received your payment in full.
  • We carry the risk of loss or damage until the stone is delivered to you, or to a person you name. We insure the parcel until then.

Shipping and delivery

Shipping is free, worldwide. Every stone leaves Sri Lanka fully insured and tracked, with its original laboratory report inside the parcel, where it has one.

Export from Sri Lanka

Every gemstone that leaves Sri Lanka goes through the country's official export process. The National Gem and Jewellery Authority and Sri Lanka Customs inspect the stone and seal the parcel. The export paperwork carries your name and delivery address, so please give us both correctly.

Customs duties and taxes

You are the importer of the stone into your country. Any import duties, taxes or customs fees your country charges are your responsibility. Please check your country's rules before you buy.

Delivery times

A stone normally arrives 7 to 10 business days after we dispatch it. We dispatch it once your payment has cleared and the export inspection is done. These times are estimates, not guarantees.

If we expect a delay, we tell you. You may then wait, or cancel for a full refund of what you have paid.

A signature may be needed on delivery.

Damage or loss in transit

Tell us within 48 hours of delivery if the parcel is damaged or opened, or the stone is missing. Keep all the packaging. If your parcel has not arrived 10 business days after we dispatch it, tell us. We trace it with the carrier.

If a parcel is lost or damaged in transit, we refund you in full. Or, if you agree, we offer you a different stone in its place. We make the insurance claim ourselves. Your refund does not depend on it.

This is a shipping claim, not a return. The 48 hours help us claim on the insurance. They do not reduce your legal rights.

Our stones and descriptions

Natural stones and colour

Every stone we sell is natural, and natural stones vary. Colour in photos, video and 360-degree views depends on the light and on your screen. A stone can look a little different in your hand. If colour matters to you, ask us for daylight video or a live video viewing first.

Weights and measurements

Weights and measurements come from the laboratory report or from our own measurement. Small differences are possible. Where our listing and the laboratory report differ, the laboratory report is the reference.

Treatment disclosure

We disclose treatment on every listing. Each listing says Unheated or Heat-treated. Where the stone has a laboratory report, this matches the report. Heating is a long-established, permanent treatment and standard practice in the gem trade.

Laboratory reports

A stone with a laboratory report has a section on its page headed "Certified by", which names the laboratory. If a stone's page has no such section, the stone has no report. Ask us if you are not sure.

A report is the professional opinion of an independent laboratory, based on its tests. Different laboratories can reach different opinions.

If another recognised laboratory reaches a different finding about whether the stone is natural or treated, send us its report. We will review both reports with you. If our description was wrong, you have the rights under Faulty or not as described.

Custom orders

You can ask us to find a stone for you through our custom order page.

  • Sending a brief is free. There is no deposit and no obligation to buy.
  • We present candidate stones with their certification. You choose one, or you pass.
  • A stone you choose is sold on the same terms as a listed stone, including the 14-day return.

There is one exception. You cannot return a stone for a change of mind if we changed it at your request. This means we re-cut it, re-polished it, altered it in any other way or set it into jewellery. Your rights if the stone is faulty or not as described are not affected.

Before we do any such work, we tell you in writing that you can no longer return the stone for a change of mind. We ask you to confirm this in writing.

We do not offer jewellery or ring settings at present.

Returning a stone

You can change your mind and return a stone. Tell us within 14 days of the day you, or someone you name, receive it. In short:

  • tell us by email or WhatsApp
  • wait for our return instructions and paperwork, then send the stone within 14 days of telling us
  • send it back as it arrived: unset, unaltered, with its laboratory report (if it has one) and the documents and packaging that came with it
  • you pay for the return shipping, which must be fully insured and tracked, and the stone is at your risk until it reaches us
  • we refund the full price you paid within 14 days of the stone reaching us, with no restocking fee
  • we deduct only for loss of value caused by handling the stone more than needed to inspect it

Our Return Policy gives the full rules, and it applies if this summary differs from it.

Faulty or not as described

You have separate rights if a stone is faulty or not as described. For example, an independent, recognised laboratory may find that the stone is not natural, or that it has a treatment we did not disclose.

These rights are not limited to 14 days. Tell us as soon as you can, and send us what you found. When the stone is back with us, we refund the full price you paid and your reasonable cost of sending it back.

You also keep the rights the law of your own country gives you, for example:

  • the two-year legal guarantee in the European Union
  • the Consumer Rights Act 2015 in the United Kingdom
  • the consumer guarantees of the Australian Consumer Law
  • the Consumer Affairs Authority Act (number 9 of 2003) in Sri Lanka

We never limit these rights.

No investment advice

Our website, journal, guides and messages give general information about gemstones and their value. It is not personal or investment advice. It is not a promise about what a stone will be worth in the future, or that you will be able to resell it. The value of any gemstone can go down as well as up.

When you buy a stone, what counts is its listing, its laboratory report (where it has one) and our written confirmation.

We do not offer a buyback, upgrade or resale service.

Using our website

Information you give us

Please give true information in our forms and messages, and use only contact details you may use. We handle what you send as our Privacy Policy explains. Please do not misuse the website, for example by trying to break into it or by sending harmful code.

Our photos and content

The photographs, videos, 360-degree views, text and design on this website belong to Crestonne, or to people who let us use them. Copyright law protects them.

You may view our content and share links to our pages. You may not copy or reuse our photographs, videos or text for any business purpose without our written permission. Laboratory names and other trade marks belong to their owners.

Our website links to other websites, such as WhatsApp and laboratory websites. We do not control them and are not responsible for them.

Limits on our liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for:

  • death or personal injury caused by our negligence
  • fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
  • your legal rights as a consumer, including those under Faulty or not as described
  • anything else that the law does not allow us to limit or exclude

Apart from those cases:

  • We are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care. Loss is foreseeable if it was obvious it would happen, or if we both knew it might happen when the contract was made. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable.
  • If you buy as a business, we are not responsible for loss of profit, loss of business or loss of business opportunity. Our total liability to you for any one sale is then limited to the price you paid for the stone.

Events outside our control

We are not responsible for a delay or failure caused by an event outside our reasonable control. Examples are:

  • natural disasters, fire and flood
  • war, civil unrest and strikes
  • epidemics
  • power or internet failures
  • actions of governments or authorities, including delays in export or customs

This section does not change our responsibility for a parcel that is lost or damaged in transit. See Damage or loss in transit.

If such an event affects your order, we tell you as soon as we can and work to limit the delay. If the delay continues, you may cancel, and we will refund what you have paid for any stone you have not received.

Governing law and courts

These terms, and any contract between us, are governed by the law of Sri Lanka. The courts of Sri Lanka can hear any dispute, but other courts with the power to hear it may do so too.

If you buy as a consumer and live outside Sri Lanka, you keep the protection of your own country's consumer law. A contract cannot take that protection away. This applies, for example, in the European Union, the United Kingdom and Australia. You may also bring a claim in the courts of your own country.

Complaints and contact

If something is wrong, please tell us first, at hello@crestonne.com or through our contact page. Tell us your name, the stone and what went wrong. We aim to reply within two business days.

If we cannot solve the problem together, you can complain to Sri Lanka's Consumer Affairs Authority (caa.gov.lk). Under the Consumer Affairs Authority Act, a complaint about a sale must reach the Authority in writing within three months of the sale. If you live in another country, you may also contact the consumer protection body there. A complaint does not affect your right to go to court.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we change the date at the top of this page. The version that applies to your order is the one we sent you with our written confirmation. This version is in force from 2 October 2026.

  • If a court or authority decides that part of these terms is invalid or cannot be enforced, the rest stays in force.
  • If we do not enforce one of our rights straight away, we can still enforce it later.
  • These terms are written in English. If we give you a translation and it differs from the English text, the English text applies, unless the law of your country requires otherwise.
