How it was cut

A Small Stone Cut for Maximum Fire

By the founder

Natural pink sapphire under half a carat rarely gets the excellent cut grade this one carries, and that wasn't an accident. When I bought the rough parcel this came from, the cutter and I looked at a handful of ways to shape it. A cushion would have kept more weight. But the crystal had the clarity and the vivid pink saturation to reward a round brilliant cut instead, one that throws light straight back at the viewer rather than pooling it in the corners.

The numbers back the decision up. At 4.34 x 4.32mm it's essentially a true round face-up, and the 2.92mm depth keeps the proportions tight enough that the stone reads bigger than 0.43ct suggests. Eye clean clarity means nothing gets in the way of that light return. It went through no heat treatment, so the pink you see is exactly what the crystal grew with in Sri Lanka, and TGL has confirmed both the origin and the untreated state on paper.

This isn't a stone built to anchor a large ring. It's an accent piece, a pendant stone, or the centre of something delicate where every bit of light matters. Collectors after unheated Ceylon pink in smaller sizes will recognise what they're looking at here.

Common questions

About This Sapphire

The questions buyers ask about this particular stone, answered against its own report and measurements.

Ask questions about this stone

Is this natural pink sapphire heated or unheated?

This stone is unheated, meaning it left the ground with this vivid pink colour and was never treated with heat to improve it. Unheated sapphires are the rarer, more sought after tier of natural pink sapphire, and this one carries a TGL report confirming no indications of heating. I chose it precisely because it didn't need any help to look this good.

Where in Sri Lanka was this sapphire mined?

This natural pink sapphire comes from Sri Lanka, the source most associated with fine pink sapphire in general. I don't have a specific mine or region logged for this particular stone, so I'm not going to invent one, but its Ceylon origin is confirmed on the certificate.

What does eye clean mean for a stone this size?

Eye clean means that at 0.43 carats and viewed with the naked eye, I couldn't find any inclusions that interrupt the colour or brilliance. Any characteristics present are the kind you'd only find under magnification, so face up the stone reads clean and bright rather than cloudy or included.

What would this pink sapphire suit best?

At 4.32mm this is a genuinely petite stone, so I'd point it toward a delicate ring, perhaps as an accent or a small centre stone in a minimalist setting, or a pendant where its saturated pink can sit close to the skin. Its round excellent cut throws light evenly, so even at this size it holds its own rather than getting lost.
