Yellow sapphire is one of those categories where the word "yellow" hides a lot of variation, and most of what passes for it leans pale or greenish. This one doesn't. At 0.73 carats it's a small stone, but the colour is the real canary shade, clean and saturated without drifting toward orange or lemon. The round cut is graded Excellent, and on a stone this size that matters more than people think, because a lazy cut on a small sapphire will dull the hue fast. This one throws light back evenly across the face, which is exactly what you want from a round brilliant this compact.
It's heated, which is standard practice for the vast majority of Ceylon sapphires and nothing to apologize for. Heat treatment on yellow sapphire from Sri Lanka is what coaxes out this kind of even, stable canary tone, and it's been the industry norm for generations. There are visible inclusions under magnification, which is typical for a natural stone this size and doesn't take away from the colour performance when set. Good canary yellow sapphires in this size range are genuinely uncommon. Most yellow sapphire on the market sits in the pale to medium range because that's what the rough gives you; a true, deep canary hue that survives cutting without going murky is a smaller slice of an already small pool. It won't command collector prices the way a large unheated stone would, but for its size and colour density it's a well above average find, and priced accordingly.
This is a stone I'd point toward a ring first, something with an open bezel or a simple four prong that lets light hit the pavilion, because that's where this sapphire earns its keep. It would also work beautifully as a pendant stone if you wanted the colour close to the skin without the everyday wear a ring takes. I chose the term because it matches what you will actually see when you look at the stone.
